With the Polytechnic lecturers we discussed the student exam questions. This was a new experience for me, and very interesting. Some of the exams were quite difficult, I'd love to take those courses and grow intellectually. My exam is a bit out of the way, photojournalism hinges on a lot of practical skills as well as visual imagination, quite different from other topics the students take.
The other day I was in the bookstore again and picked up a hold lot of great art books. I had never read "The Last of the Nuba" by Leni Riefenstahl. Quite controversial. Brilliant photos, that's for sure. At the same time an old fashioned look at anthropology. Even then, in 1974, already longing for the times when the noble savage was unaffected by civilization. And a sexist look at the Nuba society, where she does not identify with the women, only with the men.
